Anunoby Breaks Down Finalists

Ogugua Anunoby recently narrowed the list of schools he was considering. Now, the Missouri wing is close to ending his recruiting process. He will announce his decision Tuesday evening at his high school. He spoke with about each of his finalists.

With an announcement coming in two days, the gravity of his impending commitment weighed heavily on Ogugua Anunoby Sunday. He turned to what he knew best for relief.

"I'm kind of stressed," he said. "When I'm stressed, I shoot. I'm going to shoot tonight."

A silky stroke heavily contributed to the 6-foot-7, 200-pound Anunoby being in his current position. He recently trimmed a healthy list of scholarship offers to the programs he's still considering.

Anunoby is scheduled to hold a press conference at 6 p.m. central time Tuesday night at his Jefferson City (MO) High School. Georgia, Indiana and Iowa stand out as his favorites, although he still is considering Gonzaga and Ole Miss.

"Other than being somewhat stressed, I feel pretty good about where I am in the process," Anunoby said. "I, for sure, will know Tuesday morning or Monday night. I have some ideas in my head but I haven't made a decision."

Anunoby began working on his final choice after officially visiting Indiana last weekend. He previously took official visits to Georgia and Iowa then canceled trips to Gonzaga and Ole Miss.

At that point, the talented wing asked coaches to not come to any more of his open gyms. He wanted time to think things through.

"I've talked to all of them every day since then," he said. "They go over the stuff at their schools - opportunity for playing time right away, the impact I could make and the players they have at the school."

With that information and what he's gathered on his own, Anunoby will spend Monday sifting through it all.

"I'll go over the pros and cons list with my high school coach. I'll sit down with my family and talk through everything," he said.

Anunoby spoke with us about his three favorites (alphabetical order):

GEORGIA: I like their playing style. I like their coaching staff a lot. They play in a good conference. Their player development is good.

INDIANA: I like their playing style. They use a lot of ball screens. I also like their coaching staff and their player development. I like the players there, too, the freshmen. I like Bloomington. I have family there (aunt, uncle, cousins). I like their (2015) commitment, Juwan Morgan. I've known him for a long time.

IOWA: I really like the coaching staff. I like their up-tempo style of play. I like how they used Devyn Marble and Aaron White; those two players, especially. I like the players they have there, like Trey (Dickerson) and Pete (Jok). I like their ('15) commitments, Andrew (Fleming) and Ahmad (Wagner). I really don't know Brandon (Hutton).
