Hawkeyes Preview Northwestern

After a bye week, Iowa returns to the field Saturday when it plays host to Northwestern at Kinnick Stadium. Hawkeye Coach Kirk Ferentz and his players talked about what they expect to see from the Wildcats.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Some teams might underestimate Northwestern. It seems unlikely that Iowa will be one of them.

The Wildcats have won five of the last eight meetings in the series. Despite a 1-7 Big Ten mark a year ago, Northwestern took the Hawkeyes (5-3) to overtime at Kinnick Stadium before falling 17-10.

Iowa plays host to the Wildcats again on Saturday (11 a.m. CT, BTN) in a West Division showdown. The Hawkeyes sit at 2-1 in league play while Northwestern is at 2-2. Both programs are coming off a bye week.

"I think a lot of people make the mistake of maybe living in the past. I mean, since '95 these guys have been really good. They've got a proud tradition, and they play like they have a proud tradition, so they're a good program, excellent program," Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said.
