Brady Ross early on struggled with patience during the recruiting process. The Humboldt (IA) High linebacker has become a pro at perseverance.
"I'm still keeping an open mind," he said.
Division II programs Minnesota State University Mankato, Northwest Missouri State, Southwest Missouri State and Upper Iowa all have offered Ross scholarships, he said. Iowa and Iowa State have extended preferred walk-on opportunities.
Ross has been hoping a scholarship opportunity would open up at the Power 5 conference in-state schools.
"I've spoken with Iowa and Iowa State but there's been no real advancement with them," the 6-foot-1, 230-pounder said.
The Hawkeyes and Cyclones have made Ross a priority walk-on target. He has set up official visits to both schools.
Ross is scheduled to be at Iowa on Jan. 24 and ISU on Jan. 31. He takes an official visit to Northwest Missouri State on Jan. 18.
The Iowa Newspaper Association named Ross to its Class 3A all-state first-team. He racked up 30 solo tackles and seven for loss this fall and rushed for 439 yards and nine touchdowns on 80 attempts as a running back.
