'15 Michigan Big Man Hearing from Hawkeyes

Michael Edwards has watched his recruitment steadily rise in recent weeks. The big man from Michigan is hearing from Iowa and talks with HI about this conversations and where things stands with the Hawkeyes.

It appears that Tyler Junior College power forward Dale Jones is the favorite to fill Iowa's remaining open scholarship in the 2015 Class. The Waterloo native holds an offer and likely will visit in the next few weeks.

It's not a done deal yet, however. And that has the Hawkeyes on the lookout for other prospects.

Michael Edwards sits on the Iowa board. The Westland (MI) Glenn High product is hearing from Hawkeye assistant Andrew Francis.

"He said that he loves my athleticism and how I run the floor," Edwards said.

Edwards' recruitment is on the rise. He's reporting recent offers from Nebraska, Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Auburn and Marquette.

Scout.com's Evan Daniels reported that head coaches Mark Fox (Georgia), Bruce Weber (Kansas State), Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh), Derek Kellogg (UMass), Tim Miles (Nebraska) and Steve Wojciechowski (Marquette) watched the 6-foot-9 Edwards work out Thursday morning. He visited Michigan last weekend.

Edwards said he last spoke with Francis "a couple of weeks ago." He hoped to hear from the Hawkeyes again soon.

"I think (Iowa) would be a great fit for me," Edwards said.

Edwards averaged 18.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.5 blocks as a senior. He ran with the Michigan Warriors in AAU.
