Hawks In the Draft

Three former-Iowa standout lineman were selected in the this years NFL Draft.

The fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft, belonged to former Iowa offensive lineman and Outland Trophy winner Brandon Scherff, who is headed to Washington. The last time Washington picked in the first round was when they selected Robert Griffin III in 2012.

According to HawkeyeSports.com, Iowa has now had at least one player selected in the NFL draft every year since 1978.

Iowa's lines were well represented in the draft, with two other Hawkeyes selected. Defensive tackle Carl Davis was selected by the Ravens in the third round and offensive lineman Andrew Donnal was taken in the fourth round by the Rams.

The fourth Hawkeye who signed with an NFL team was defensive lineman Louis Trinca-Pasat, a Chicago native who tweeted about signing with the St. Louis Rams. According to NFL.com's evaluations, the 6-1, 290-pound athlete was projected to have been selected in the fifth round.
