Hawkeyes Add Billings to Class

Lorain (Ohio) Clearview athlete Lance Billings, a probable defensive back, commits to Iowa.

An All-State selection last season, Lance Billings still went somewhat under the recruiting radar, but landed a major offer recently when Iowa became his first Big Ten offer.

With that, Billings chose the Hawkeyes over Ball State on Monday, one of three Midwestern players to do so, joining Crystal Lake (Ill.) Central defensive end Romeo McKnight and Birmingham (Mich.) Groves cornerback Cedric Boswell.

Billings (6-0, 165 pounds), is a versatile athlete who caught 45 passes for 799 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior, but also chipped in 327 receiving yards as well as 38 tackles and three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) on defense.

He is likely to be a defensive back for the Hawkeyes.
