He's a three-star tight end out of Chariton (Iowa) and rated as the nation's 42nd best tight end overall, the top tight end in Iowa, and the ninth best at his position in the midwest.

In the above video Hockenson describes his himself, on the field and off the field. It gives an inside look at not just the player the caliber of player the Hawkeyes are getting, but more of what type of person they are receiving as well.

The whacky and floppy-haired Iowan committed to Kirk Ferentz and Iowa on June 19, and he hasn't looked back since. He's one of the headliners of the group, and the highlights included in the video playing above showcase that ability.

He discusses his favorite play as a football player, his goals, and aspirations. As you will see, Hockenson is in love with the game of football and everything is centered around it.

One cool item about Hockenson is who he compares himself to as a football player. He patterns his game after a former Hawkeye tight end, and NFL standout. The similarities exist because of the length of both and how they can be a threat in the seam route going down the field.
