The Shadow's Basketball Recruiting Update

With all these early commitments in basketball, there hasn't been much to cover. However, The Shadow has once again been informed that Steve Alford and staff are still hitting the recruiting trail very hard. Read further to find out their plans.....

This morning, Steve Alford left Iowa City on a private jet heading east to Dyke Academy in Blue Ridge Virginia. Steve will be the first visitor for Aliou Kane, a 6-10, 230 pound center. Kane is a native of Mauritania, a Northern African nation bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, between Senegal and Western Sahara nation. Will he complete the 2002 Iowa recruiting puzzle?

Aliou Kane is the ONLY player being recruited by Iowa to complete the 2002 class. The 6-10 muscleman would add rebounding and athletic ability to a class ranked as high as # 5 in the country by recruiting analysts.

While Steve Alford is flying high, Greg Lansing is getting some windshield time driving to Minnetonka, Minnesota to visit Iowa's #1 junior prospect, Kris Humphries. Humphries a 6-7 1/2, 220 pound power forward, is a NATIONAL recruit. Kris, a national swimming champion at 13, has already received an offer from UCLA. His father was an offensive lineman for the Golden Gophers. Its been known to Kris that the University of Iowa would love to have him!!!
