Inside The LockerRoom

It's been a great start for Hawkeye Football, but now it's going to get even tougher. Do the Hawks have what it takes to finally reclaim the Cy-Hawk trophy with a victory over Iowa State? What are the latest rumblings in Iowa City?

Eric Steinbach and Bob Sanders are expected to return this weekend against Iowa State. However, its not quite as likely Alonzo Cunningham will be back. Coach Ferentz should address this more at the press conference tomorrow.

Many people are wondering about the status of Jermelle Lewis. I can tell you that he WON'T be seeing any action on the football field this fall. This will give the staff more time to evaluate Aaron Greving and Fred Russell.

This Iowa State game means a whole lot to this team. I can tell you that the feeling in Iowa City is that they want to come out and destroy the Cyclones. Iowa State is a quality opponent, but expect Hawkeye emotions to be riding high. This could be a great game for Iowa to make an early national statement.

In one of my previous articles, I mentioned that Coach Ferentz took time this summer to sit down with Kahlil Hill and compare tapes of David Terrell and Hill. Kahlil has obviously seen what he needed to accomplish to become the caliber of David Terrell. He had his best game as a Hawkeye yesterday against Miami(OH). He blocked well, ran good routes and caught the ball.

On the recruiting side, there have been rumors of a Sophmore prospect that Iowa has already offered. This prospect is WR Adrian Arrington (6'3 170) from Cedar Rapids Washington. He has camped at Michigan several times, and he will likely be a national commodity before his senior year in high school.
