Iowa commit Noah Fant has been one of the Hawkeye pledges that has been in the news quite a bit recently. Despite being committed to Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes since August. he has taken a viist to Nebraska and has contemplated other trips.
One of those possible trips is an official visit to Minnesota. He went on the record and confirmed he would be checking out the Golden Gophers next weekend.
"Looking like we are going," Fant said in a text message to Hawkeye Insider. "My parents support it and really want me to be 100 percent sure when I step onto Iowa's campus that I made the right decision. Now don't get me wrong, I feel that I'm 100 percent now, but me and my parents just don't want there to be any question."
It's a decision that doesn't particularly sit well with the Iowa coaching staff.
"They don't like it," Fant revealed about the Hawkeye staff's reaction. "They might even decide to start recruiting another tight end. I understand that though. Although I feel like that would show me a lot about where my recruitment and commitment is at with Iowa."
Despite this new development, his time in Iowa City was still a positive one.
"The visit was great though," Fant pointed out. "I had a lot of fun and met a lot of people. I also got to start getting to know the other recruits. It was good."
"I don't think anything will happen to my commitment to Iowa," he added. "Iowa is a great place and I can see myself doing great things there. I'm really excited to get to Iowa City in the summer."
