California Junior College Fullback Joins Hawkeyes

Once again, the Iowa staff has relied on an old friendhip in landing the newest addition to the football team.

Paul Wilson has arrived in Iowa City and is joining the team," Chaffey Junior Collee Head Coach Carl Beach said. "He originally came from a prep school out east. I'm not aware of which one. I guess his father knew one of the coaches on staff at Iowa, and that is the reason he is there."

"Paul is 6'1 and I'd say a little over 200 right now," added Beach. "He is solidly built and is a very hard worker. We did not use our fullback much last season, but he is talented. He will have the option to red-shirt this fall, and then will have three years left to play. It is a great deal for Iowa."

So what type of contributions could we expect to see from Wilson in the future?

"He is a guy that will need to learn their system first. Like I said, we did not use him much so he may need to learn the position a bit better, but I believe the coaches will be happy with him. I could easily see him earning a scholarship before he leaves."
