HOMETOWN: Skokie, Illinois (Niles North HS)
POSITION: Inside Linebacker
RECRUITING STORY: Wade is another example of Iowa trusting their own evaluations and analysis as they jumped on the future Hawkeye linebacker when not a lot of other Power 5 programs did. He would likely be playing closer to home or in the MAC had Kirk Ferentz's staff not offered. But he was a running back in high school and still ranked as one, whereas I think he'll do just fine at linebacker in the Big Ten.
EVALUATION: He's played running back in high school but I see him as an outside linebacker for Iowa and possibly in the same mold as what Ben Niemann was this year as a redshirt freshmen this year for the Hawkeyes. He may not be as tall or long as Niemann but he is a run and hit type player which should come as no surprise for someone that was such a physical, bruising type of running back. Wade is quite a physical specimen, jacked up, and with a chiseled body. This dude is going to love being with Coach Doyle in the weight room. Ben Niemann that has flourished in the weight room at Iowa as well and runs very well for his size. Wade is probably stronger at this stage. Because he's played very little at linebacker, he'll have a year or two of learning the position. That was not a problem for Niemann but I think they envision a similar player with Wade. - Hawkeye Insider Publisher Derek Young
