HOMETOWN: Lorain, Ohio (Clearview HS)
RECRUITING STORY: Billings went under-the-radar in every way, to a point not a lot of Iowa fans even remember him. He's went without a lot of fanfare and national and even local media attention. He's the lone commit from Ohio, very small, but a playmaker. Iowa was his lone Power 5 offer and he chose the Hawkeyes over Ball State. Is this the sleeper that surprises everyone with his ability? He's certainly a candidate. Iowa's staff certainly believes so.
EVALUATION: He's undersized for about every position on the football field right now. A year or three in the weight room is going to be needed but that does not mean he will not be a good football player for the Hawkeyes. He's got exceptional speed, acceleration, and change of direction. That shows that he can be dangerous with the ball in his hands should he play offense or has great potential in coverage as a defensive back. He's listed as safety but with that hip flexibility, change of direction, and acceleration he can project just as well to cornerback. What he would need at cornerback is to be more physical and a significant increase in strength. But that additional bulk and strength will be needed just about anywhere he plays. - Hawkeye Insider Publisher Derek Young
