BREAKING: Top OT Target Alaric Jackson Picks Iowa

Iowa defeats Michigan and Michigan State for top offensive tackle target Alaric Jackson of Detroit.

On announcement aired on the Big Ten Network, Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance offensive tackle Alaric Jackson made his verbal pledge to Iowa. It is a big coup for the Hawkeyes to say the least. They had wanted to land one of the coveted offensive offensive tackles they pursued throughout the entire recruiting cycle and he indeed was one of them. Iowa pushed for him for almost a year.

Jackson chose the Hawkeyes over other offers from Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa State, Michigan and Michigan State. It is a huge win on the recruiting trail for Iowa to knock off the two in-state powers for a prospect from Michigan.

He will now sign with Iowa today and be the 25th member of the class.

His upside is tremendous at 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds but also because he has only played football for two years. In addition, he's an excellent basketball player. Having the athleticism and footwork to play on the hardwood has been a strong translation for those that play offensive tackle at the next level.
