HOMETOWN: Detroit, Michigan (Renaissance HS)
POSITION: Offensive Tackle
RANKING: Three-Star, #10 OT in Midwest, #34 OT in Country
RECRUITING STORY: This is by far the most impressive win of the cycle. Michigan State eventually offered Jackson even though it was as a defensive end. Iowa State wanted him. Wisconsin wanted him before they filled up. Nebraska wanted him. Michigan offered him late. He spurned them all for Iowa. It doesn't get any bigger than this in recruiting circles if you're an Iowa fan.
EVALUATION: He's a big-bodied kid with a lot of athleticism. He's very naturally coordinated, gets off the ball well, and can run and get into the second level very well for someone so big. He gives good effort and plays with good overall intensity. He only picked up football as a junior, so he is a work in progress technically, but is a smart kid who has picked things up quickly. - Scout Midwest Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu
That's all I needed to hear. He's that prototypical left tackle that programs covet. I don't care about the technical deficiencies right now. He doesn't have bad tendencies because he's played so little football and he'll have one of the best staffs in developing the position in charge of his future. This is a perfect match. This is the big get for the class. He's athletic, he's big, and he's got unbelievable upside. This is what Iowa needed along the offensive line and they got it. - Hawkeye Insider Publisher Derek Young
