Iowa is coming off three wins in a row since losing to Maryland. They've taken down some teams near the bottom of the league in Northwestern, Penn State, and Illinois. But they didn't overlook any of those squads and took care of business. They avoided the close calls that have tripped up other teams and defeated them all by double digits.
That consistency is earning the Hawkeyes even mroe respect. They've jumped back up the polls this week. In the newly released coaches poll Iowa is slotted in at 5th in the country and received three first place votes. The Hawkeyes were 7th in the coaches poll a week ago.
In the AP Poll, Iowa received 11 first place votes and received a bump from #5 to #4. The Hawkeyes are behind #1 Villanova, #2 Maryland, and #3 Oklahoma.
Iowa is 19-4 overall on the season and 10-1 in league play. That has them atop the standings in the Big Ten by a half a game over Maryland and a full game over Indiana. The Terrapins are 10-2 in the league while the Hoosiers are 9-2 after a disappointing loss to Penn State over the weekend.
The Hawkeyes are also undefeated at home through 12 games, 5-2 on the road, and 2-2 on neutral sites.
They resume play next on Thursday against Bloomington in a highly anticipated matchup that will go a long way in deciding the Big Ten regular season.
