Iowa was ranked 4th nationally in the AP Poll a week ago but after a road loss in Bloomington to Indiana they have dropped a few spots. Last week they were also 5th in the Coaches Poll but that also took a hit.
In this week's Coaches Poll the Hawkeyes are ranked sixth, only dropping one spot. The AP Poll kept Iowa at #4 in the country.
The new top 5 in the Coaches Poll is Villanova, Kansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Maryland in that order. Other Iowa opponents in the top 25 are Michigan State at #9, Dayton at #13, Iowa State at #15, Purdue at #16, Notre Dame at #18, and Indiana at #21.
The Hawkeyes are 20-5 overall and 11-2 in the Big Ten which is why they didn't take a dramatic tumble in the rankings. They will be a candidate to jump back in next week assuming they can whack Penn State on the road on Wednesday.
Indiana and Maryland were topped by Michigan State and Wisconsin respectively over the weekend while the Hawkeyes were able to fend off the Gophers. That chain of events placed Iowa alone in first place of the conference once again.
