The public does not have to wait any longer to see who Iowa wants at quarterback. The Hawkeyes extended an offer to West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley signal caller Rocky Lombardi.
Lombardi also holds offers from Virginia and Iowa State and has heard extensively from Michigan State. His recruitment is expected to take off even more once the spring evaluation process is in full swing.
For now, he's very satisfied with his offer sheet, especially the latest one from the Hawkeyes.
"Iowa offered today," Lombardi confirmed to Scout. "I was just very excited. I like the program and I know how well they develop players so I am very excited."
This offer is not lost on Lombardi. He knows how much it means and it's signficant to him because of what program it comes from.
"I think it was one that I really wanted because it's in-state and it just feels good to have those two major in-state teams," the Des Moines quarterback admitted. "They're good programs and I have high interest in them."
The time with the Hawkeyes' head coach was a meaningful experience for the Lombardi family. That is when the offer was extended to Rocky and they were able to secure some impactful one-on-one time with Kirk Ferentz. Like always, Kirk Ferentz worked his charm and won over the family.
"Kirk Ferentz did give the offer," Rocky shared. "He brought me in before the junior day and had a talk with me. He then gave me the offer towards the end before we left his office. He congratulated me on my wrestling team's achievement and said that he was excited I came back for junior day and hopes I keep coming back."
"Coach Ferentz was great," Rocky's father Tony told Hawkeye Insider. "He's a first-class human being with a great value system, and he certainly made us feel wanted which is what you're looking for."
A college decision won't come immediately but a timetable is something that the three-star 2017 Iowan admitted needed to be discussed.
"I don't know yet," Rocky Lombardi explained about when his commitment could come. "I have spring break this next coming week so I think that would be a good time to think about it and narrow my options."
