According to Brett McMurphy of ESPN, a few of the Big Ten Network primetime games for the month of September have been finalized. One of those games will be the battle for the CyHawk Trophy.
Iowa State travels to Kinnick Stadium this year to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in primetime. It is one of two primetime Big Ten Network games on September 10. North Carolina at Illinois will also be played in primetime on that date. The exact time was not indicated other than it will be played at night which usually means after 6 p.m. CST.
Iowa won last year's meeting over the Cyclones 31-17 and it was just a precursor of the season to come. The game was competitive all the way through all the way up until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Riley McCarron's double move for a touchdown reception gave Iowa all they needed followed by one of Desmond King's many interceptions.
The Cyclones are lead by a new head coach this year. After Paul Rhoads' firing, Iowa State grabbed Matt Campbell to be their new head coach. He had a ton of success as the boss of the Toledo football program. Campbell has been an up and coming young coach on the cusp of a few different 'power five' jobs over the course of the past couple of years. He gets his chance in Ames.
