One of the top defensive back targets left on the board for Iowa is Fairfield (Ohio) defensive back Josiah Scott. He's also among the best in the Midwest. He has an offer sheet that also includes West Virginia and maybe eventually Michigan State, along with the MAC programs that have already extended him a scholarship.
Iowa offered last month and he quickly displayed his excitement to Scout's Bill Greene at that time.
"This offer means a lot because Iowa was a top-five team last year, and they play in the Big Ten," Scott told Scout on April 27. "Not everybody has the opportunity to play in that conference, let alone Iowa, so it's a blessing."
Now the Hawkeyes will get an even greater opportunity to impress Scott. It's not final, but he'll likely visit Kirk Ferentz and Iowa the weekend of June 24-25.
"It's not set in stone yet but it's pretty close," Scott shared earlier today. "They've been telling me they have to get me there and show me around their facilities and campus and to also meet the coaching staff."
Other possible visits that Scott has in mind are to Maryland, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, Penn State and Northwestern among others.
"I'm planning on getting around a lot all summer," he insisted.
The Hawkeyes are among the schools that has been in regular contact with the 5-foot-10, 175 pound corner from Fairfield, Ohio.
"I stay in contact with Iowa, Michigan State, and West Virginia," Scott pointed out. "Their coaches are reaching out to me a lot."
Not only is Iowa reaching out frequently to Scott but they're in striking position to land his services.
"They can be a top-three school for me in the end the way they're keeping up with me and building a relationship," he admitted. "I just have to visit there to see."
Another contender to reel in the highly-recruited corner are the Mountaineers.
"West Virginia has been recruiting me for a while so a relationship is already there," Scott explained. "I think I need to get back there again for another visit to see the campus and to meet the rest of the staff."
The Spartans have yet to offer but they are showing signs of getting close to pulling the trigger on one for Scott.
"They haven't offered but they've stayed in contact on a weekly basis, checking up on my recruitment and how I'm doing."
He does plan on announcing his college decision at the end of July as he shared on his twitter account.
