Iowa Hawkeyes: Week That Was on Twitter

Dylan dives in to all the major things that happened in the Twitter-sphere this week as they relate to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa Offers Gavin Holmes

It seems like Iowa has been on fire lately offering a lot of wide receivers from the Texas area.  Here is another one in Holmes.  He's a speedster and Iowa could definitely use a guy like this.  He has a verified 40 time of 4.43 proving that he can in fact fly.

He holes several other offers, so Iowa will likely have to do some work to nab a commitment from him in the class of 2017.

Peter Jok Back in Iowa City

Iowa senior shooting guard made it clear he intends to come back for his senior year yesterday when he told Chad Leistikow of the Des Moines Register just that yesterday.

Jok will be the teams leader next season as he steps forward as the lone senior and easily the best overall player.  He got feedback from NBA teams and scouts on what he needed to do better in his senior season to be drafted in the 2017 draft.  I don't think there was ever a doubt that Jok would be back, but there was always a slight chance.

Jok could wind up leading the league in scoring next season, but Iowa desperately needs a second scoring option.

Iowa Baseball

The Iowa Baseball team clinched a trip to the Big Ten Tournament over the weekend when they defeated Penn State in two of three games.  Iowa was on the fringe, but victories over the Nittany Lions put them over the hump and back into the BTT.

They'll be riding a hot streak heading into Omaha and will look for a four day ride to try and win the Tournament.  That'll start May 25th and conclude on May 29th.

Oliver Martin Receives High Honor

Iowa City West wide receiver, Oliver Martin, was invited to the Opening finals after being named the MVP at their Chicago Regional.  That camp will be held in Beaverton, Oregon and a lot of the top recruits in the country will be there.

Iowa has yet to offer Martin, but that could be on the horizon as I'm pretty sure he intends to camp with them this summer.  This could be a great place for Martin to get his name out there and show some teams and coaches what he's made of.
