Iowa's recruiting emphasis on the wide receiver position continues as they offered the top wideout in Indiana, Mac Hippenhammer of Fort Wayne. Hippenhammer has enjoyed an elevation in status recently after also reeling in an offer from Penn State.
Hippenhammer camped for Iowa earlier in the month and was told that he'd hear some feedback following that performance. The feedback is in as is the offer.
"Iowa offered!," he told Derek Young of Scout excitedly.
Hippenhammer's other offers include Illinois, Wake Forest and Syracuse and a slew of MAC programs. He's a three-star prospect and has a 4.4 40 time under his belt.
The Hawkeyes have stayed on Hippenhammer throughout his recruitment and that is paying dividends. He's always had high interest in Iowa and their offer has only increased that.
"They're up there," Hippenhammer said of the Hawkeyes. "They're at the top with Penn State, Wake Forest and Syracuse."
Iowa is also heavily in the mix for top receivers Maurice Bell, Camron Buckley, Shamond Greenwood, Braydon Johnson, Brandon Smith and Gavin Holmes. They are in position to add at least a trio of wideouts in the 2017 class. The dominoes could fall quickly as spots get grabbed as early as this upcoming weekend. You can now add Hippenhammer to the mix.
Hippenhammer is a speedy receiver but he also has size that gives him some versatility to his game. He's not exclusively a slot but could also play on the outside in the Iowa offense.
