Iowa Visit Weekend Preview: Hawkeye Tailgater Visitors

Take a look at the visit list for this weekend as Iowa hosts a big recruiting event.

Iowa hosts their biggest recruiting weekend of the summer beginning soon in the event they call the Hawkeye Tailgater. Many of the commits will be in attendance as well as some of the top talent that Iowa is targeting moving forward. Hawkeye Insider breaks it down in the general visit list.

COMMITS

5-star DE A.J. Epenesa - The Iowa legacy committed early in the Spring and has spearheaded the class along with Eno Benjamin. He'll be in town trying to lure more top targets to join him.

4-star RB Eno Benjamin - He's been the class leader for all intents and purposes. He's had a significant impression on who Iowa is in the mix for in the state of Texas. It has already resulted in a commitment and there's probably more on the way.

3-star RB Ivory Kelly-Martin - Good news to get him back on campus. He's solid but he also will probably listen to others throughout the process to see if another good opportunity becomes available to him. I think he signs but it's not always easy to sign two backs especially when they're ranked as high as they are. This weekend will be big for him.

3-star OT Mark Kallenberger - I have him listed as a 3-star by Scout still but I think some day will come where he receives the 4-star bump and treatment. He's really good and the sky is the ceiling for him. It'll be a great chance for he and his family to meet the other Hawkeyes in attendance.

3-star OT Tristan Wirfs - He was a 4-star at one time and probably could still end up one. It's his first visit in a while after a terrific track season.

3-star QB Peyton Mansell - He's back to visit Iowa for the second time in three weeks. That should leave no doubts as to how solid he is in his commitment. He's also going to be integral in recruiting others to join him.

4-star DB Djimon Colbert - Colbert is not a lock to be there. He's still about 50/50 on being able to make it. If he does, that's another one of the headliner commits that will be in town.

3-star DE Levi Duwa - This is a prospect that just keeps better and better but still has more growing to do. Expect him to be productive in Iowa City as he impressed when he camped with Reese Morgan and Iowa about a week ago.

2-star DL Coy Kirkpatrick - I think we'll eventually see a ratings bump here and someone that moves from defensive end to defensive tackle. He's really growing into his body at a rapid pace right now. He's going to be better than advertised.

TARGETS

3-star WR Brandon Smith - He's one of the high-valued targets that will be camping. He needs a good performance to get in the wide receiver discussion for Iowa.

3-star CB Kobe Boyce - Still committed to Texas but a visit to Iowa probably indicates not all is well there with the Longhorns and him. He does come from the same high school as Josh Jackson did.

3-star CB Matt Hankins - Another Lone Star State cornerback that the Hawkeyes would love to have. He recently named Iowa to his top four along with Texas Tech, Duke and Houston.

3-star WR Gavin Holmes - A Lone Star State receiver that just de-committed from Duke not long ago and wasted little time setting up a visit to Iowa. He'd probably make his home in the slot.
