Week 3: Iowa Recruits Recap

Iowa commits and targets were back in action on Thursday and Friday night. Lets see how they did.

Commits

*QB Peyton Mansell led Belton to a dominating 70-35 win over Stony Point on Friday night in a game that he completed 13 of 16 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

*RB Eno Benjamin ran for 142 yards on Thursday night and passed for 24 yards as his team, Wylie East, lost to Denton Ryan.  Benjamin found the end zone three separate times for the Raiders.

*RB Ivory Kelly-Martin was a threat in both the run game and the pass game on Friday night.  He carried the ball 9 times for 98 yards, caught three passes that totaled 81 yards, and found the end zone four times.  He did all of his damage in the first half because he and the rest of the starters did not participate in the second half due to Oswego East's large lead.

*WR Gavin Holmes had a slow day by his standards catching just four passes for 91 yards and touchdown as Justin Northwest won their game over Byron Nelson by a score of 28-10.

*Camron Harrell had a big night for Bradley-Bourbonnais.  He carried the ball nine times for 158 yards.  He also added four rushing touchdowns, with two of them totaling 50+ yards a piece

*WR Brandon Smith totaled eight catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns in a close game that his Lake Cormorant Gators would go on to lose to Desoto Central.  

Targets

*ATH Russ Yeast dominated agait as Center Grove defeated Ben Davis 20-7.  Yeast racked up 200 yards on the ground and found the end zone once.  Yeast will be in Iowa City tomorrow morning for an official visit.

*ATH Alphonso Soko rushed for 169 yards and had a couple of touchdowns in Muscatine's win over Pleasant Valley tonight.

*WR Oliver Martin had 104 receiving yards as Iowa City West downed Cedar Falls in a battle of two top 10 teams in class 4A.  Martin also caught a 73 yard TD pass for the games first touchdown in the third quarter.  

*Recently offered WR, Beau Corrales, caught a fourth quarter touchdown in a game that his Georgetown team would go on to win in overtime.  Beau will be in Iowa City on Saturday for a visit.
