The Iowa coaches hit the road during the bye week to check in on some current commits and some guys they have their eyes on. The Hawkeyes usually hit the St. Louis area hard and they are showing that they'll be doing the same in the class of 2019 when they offered athlete, Isaiah Williams of Trinity Catholic.
"I was excited and blessed," Williams told Scout in regards to how he felt about gathering an offer from the Hawkeyes.
"It's a great school and a program I could play for," he told Scout when asked about his early feelings on the Hawkeyes.
He already has a handful of offers from schools like Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri, among others. Williams, already considered the top athlete in Missouri is likely going to be fairly sought after.
He did admit that he'll be taking a visit to Iowa City, but did not know a specific date. "Sometime after the season," he told Scout.
He's being recruited right now as just an athlete, but does play quarterback for Trinity. He could project to the slot as a receiver because of his ability to make tacklers miss and he's extremely fast. But that is still fairly far into the future.
Williams is still really trying to figure out this whole recruiting thing. It sounds like he's just a kid enjoying playing the game as a sophomore in high school. He told me he doesn't have any real favorites at this point.
He has visited both Missouri and Illinois, both of which came over the summer months. And he did tell Scout that both visits went great.
