One of the more important visitors this weekend for Iowa was actually a commit in cornerback Matt Hankins of Flower Mound, Texas. He's been a standout for his school team for a few years and is one of the more sought-after recruits in all of the country, not just Texas. He's being pursued by many schools right now despite his verbal pledge to the Hawkeyes.
One of the schools that was in hot pursuit of Hankins after offering was Michigan. Hankins almost visited the Wolverines but decided against it last minute. He canceled that trip to Ann Arbor a few weeks ago and last night he saw the Hawkeyes take down #3 Michigan in Kinnick Stadium. It was quite the change of direction.
"Last night's visit to Iowa was the best I've ever had," the future Hawkeye said. "I had a great time and I don't see how this could ever be topped."
He's considered other visits, and his commitment appeared to be shaky at one time but the concern of Hankins' status has disappeared in Iowa City.
"I'm locked in with Iowa," Hankins stated. "I've always been locked in with Iowa. I'm not visiting Michigan. I'm not visiting anywhere else."
Hankins was also able to share this moment in Kinnick Stadium with some of his future teammates.
"I was able to storm the field with the other commits and recruits that were there," he explained. "I also was in the locker room afterwards with the team and celebrating with them and going crazy."
