Iowa has landed their second commitment of the 2018 class in Crystal Lake (Ill.) Prairie Ridge offensive lineman Jeff Jenkins. Jenkins was just offered by Iowa a few weeks ago but wasted little time in visiting as he arrived in Iowa City this weekend.
That trip turned out to be all that was needed as Jenkins has given his word to the Iowa staff and joined linebacker Mike Bruner in the 2018 Hawkeye class.
"First off, I'd like to thank my parents for everything they have done for me and their support throughout my whole football career," Jenkins tweeted in his announcement for the Hawkeyes. "Thank you to my teammates who I've played with the last couple years at Prairie Ridge and the whole Prairie Ridge coaching staff. I would also like to give a big thank you to Coach Schremp for everything he has done for me. I wouldn't be here without him. Also, thank you to all the college coaches that believed in me and offered me a scholarship to their university."
"With that being said, I am very proud to say I have committed to play Division 1 football at the University of Iowa."
Jenkins had been hearing from Iowa for quite a while before they even offered and nearly visited during the season. The Hawkeyes were an offer he wanted badly and when he got it, he jumped at the chance.
Iowa should place much of their focus on the 2017 class in the next week or two but after that, they will turn their entire efforts to the 2018 class and surround Mike Bruner and Jeff Jenkins with even more talent.
