POSITION: WIDE RECEIVER
STAR RANK: THREE-STAR
POSITION RANK: 91
COMMIT DATE: December 14, 2016
LEAD RECRUITER: Seth Wallace
EVALUATION: He's my sleeper in this class. He was productive in high school and a good athlete who can run routes and make plays after the catch. I think he's going to be a favorite weapon for Iowa quarterbacks in future years. - Midwest Analyst Allen Trieu
RECRUITMENT: Cooper was committed to Central Michigan for quite a while before Iowa offered him in December. After a visit soon after, Cooper made the decision to flip his commitment from the Chippewas to the Hawkeyes.
OUTLOOK: A redshirt year would probably be best case scenario for Cooper so that he can develop physically and learn the offense to the extent that it is needed but he may not have that luxury. Outside of a preferred walk-on like junior college prospect Nick Easley settling into the role, Cooper may be the lone option in the slot outside of Matt VandeBerg with Riley McCarron's departure. Either way, Cooper is going to play very early in his career in the slot for the Hawkeyes and his career production and trajectory should look very similar to that of Matt VandeBerg, hopefully absent of the injury.
