POSITION: DEFENSIVE TACKLE/OFFENSIVE LINE
STAR RANK: TWO-STAR
COMMIT DATE: June 8, 2015
LEAD RECRUITER: Reese Morgan
EVALUATION: A very early commit, I could see him playing offensive line or defensive tackle too. He's just a big kid who can develop at several spots and he was a camp find so I think you like a kid the staff evaluated in person and then offered. - Midwest Analyst Allen Trieu
RECRUITMENT: Kirkpatrick was offered at an Iowa summer camp before his junior season. He then committed a day or two later as he knew that is what he wanted. His recruitment was an open and shut case like most Iowans.
OUTLOOK: The question will be whether or not he contributes as an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman for Iowa. I think the most sense would be for him to begin his career as a defensive tackle because of the lack of depth there and he has the body for it and is a natural fit. Kirkpatrick is getting bigger and bigger and he could end up being a massive human on the interior of the defensive line. Iowa will get him into fall camp and figure out what is in the best interest for Kirkpatrick and the team. Defensive tackle seems like an easy match for me but offensive line isn't out of the equation. The staff is very, very confident in his abilities and what they can do with his talents for them to offer him as early as they did and after seeing him live in person.
