Nation's #2 DT Michael Thompson Can See Himself Playing for Iowa

The nation's 22nd best prospect in the country for the 2018 class issues praise for Iowa.

It was the third visit to Iowa already for one of the best prospects in the country in Michael Thompson of St. Louis. He is a defensive tackle from Parkway North that is a four-star as a junior on Scout and rated as the second best defensive tackle in the country for his class and the nation's 22nd best prospect overall. He has offers from just about everywhere already.

Where has he been the most frequent visitor at early on? One of those schools is the Hawkeyes who he has a strong affinity for in the early stages of his recruitment. He's not one for announcing top lists of schools or top groups of schools but his actions do indicate that Iowa is in a good spot and he was excited about his visit to Iowa City went once again.

"It went good," Thompson said to Scout soon after departing the Hawkeye campus. "I really enjoyed the stadium tour even though I had already seen it before. It's just a beautiful place."

Thompson was at the junior day at Iowa a day after being at Louisville. He's seen a ton of campuses in the past few months, which included some stops in the southeast as well. The four-star defensive tackle took visits to Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU, and Florida State. His offer list is just as impressive.

But it is the Hawkeyes that made the strong impression today and they'll hang around in his recruitment for the duration.

"I like Iowa a lot and feel like I could see myself playing here," Thompson admitted. "I don't have a top group or a top list or anything like that. I haven't got that far with it yet but I do know Iowa will be in it until the end."
