Iowa landed their first in-state prospect of the 2018 class as Iowa City West linebacker Dillon Doyle made the call to commit to the Hawkeyes just moments ago. Doyle is obviously the son of Iowa strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle.
Doyle commented on his verbal pledge to Kirk Ferentz and company.
"It has always been a dream of mine to put on the black and gold and play for Coach Ferentz," he said via social media. "With that being said, I couldn't be more excited and proud to announce that I'm committing to the University of Iowa to pursue my academic and athletic goals."
He's not ranked as a prospect yet on Scout but Doyle had also collected offers from Northern Illinois and Central Florida. His most recent offer was from the Hawkeyes after they extended one his way on their junior day event March 5.
Doyle projects as an outside linebacker. He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds.
