The Iowa Football program hosted numerous recruits over the first weekend in April, one of those being Belleville, MI OL/DL Devontae Dobbs. Dobbs was one of two Bellville athletes that Iowa offered on the day. The other was Julian Barnett - a 4-star wide receiver with an impressive offer sheet. Dobbs himself is a 4-star offensive lineman and both prospects are 2019 kids.
While Dobbs is still fairly neutral when it comes to college choices he said the Hawkeyes did stand out in a couple of different regards.
"The weight room," Dobbs said when asked what he was impressed with over the weekend. "They had a lot of new equipment and that was really impressive. The field was great and the trainer was really impressive as well," he added.
Dobbs currently has a host of offers, a lot of them being from SEC powers. Schools like Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, and Florida have already gotten in on the action for the 6'5" 270-pound tackle from Michigan. Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin are a few other notable offers that Dobbs already possesses.
Right now, Iowa is looking at Dobbs for both sides of the ball, according to Devontae himself. However, he doesn't have a personal preference just yet calling the battle "even" when it comes to which one he wants to play at the next level.
He was impressed with how firm the Iowa coaching staff was with their words and he said the interest level seems to be pretty high at this point in time.
Dobbs said he's working on refining his technique and becoming more of a leader as he takes that next step into being an upperclassmen.
He said he plans on making a return trip to Iowa City when they take on Penn State in late September.
