The first commit of the 2018 class was Mequon, Wisconsin linebacker Mike Bruner and he now is the first to de-commit. The Hawkeyes lose one of their two linebacker pledges. They still hold onto Iowa City linebacker Dillon Doyle.
Bruner also had an offer from Iowa State. He committed during this past Fall. His reasons were that he thought he made a decision too early in his process. He has also heard from other programs in the Midwest, such as Wisconsin.
The Hawkeyes still have three commitments; running back Henry Geil of Wisconsin, offensive lineman Jeff Jenkins of Illinois and linebacker Dillon Doyle of Iowa. They also should be adding another verbal pledge in the coming week.
