Iowa Basketball: Hawkeyes First Power Five School to Offer Moreno

3-star '19 wing Michael Moreno talks about his first power 5 offer from the Iowa Basketball program.

Fran McCaffery and his staff have been active in the class of 2019 as far as extending offers are concerned. They've offered several prospects in the last week and a half and Michael Moreno of Georgetown, KY is the latest.

"I just called coach (Fran) McCaffery and we had a brief talk about how he likes my game," Moreno told Scout. "He told me I would fit in well with the style of play that Iowa has."

The Hawkeyes were the first power five offer for Moreno, but he also claims offers from IUPUI and Bradley at this time.

Moreno - who is an AAU teammate of Jeremiah Francis (another guard that Iowa recently offered) - says he really likes Iowa's coaching staff and the way they run their offense. He says a June visit is in the works.

Over the first couple of weekends on the Adidas Gaunlet circuit Moreno is averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds for his 15-0 Indiana Elite team. They've won the first two sessions. They are also the #1 ranked 16U AAU team in the country by indiHoops.

Moreno is another 2019 kid that speaks highly of Fran McCaffery's son, Patrick.

"He's my guy!" Moreno said. "He's a heck of a ball player and I really think he's a cool dude."
