Iowa a Favorite for 2019 DB Jalani Williams

Iowa has emerged as a favorite for defensive back Jalani Williams of St. Louis.

One of the top 2019 prospects in the country is St. Louis (Mo.) Parkway North standout safety Jalani Williams. He's been one of the better athletes at both the Nike and Under Armour camps in Chicago. He's also a teammate of top 50 prospect Michael Thompson of the 2018 class.

Iowa has already offered both players and is near the top of the list for both. It's early but the Hawkeyes seem as if they'll hang around in contention for Williams' services through the duration of his recruitment.

"Iowa is up there," Williams said. "Nebraska and Iowa are the favorites right now. I like Iowa because of coach (LeVar) Woods. He keeps it real. I've visited a couple times. He's a cool guy and easy to talk to. He's the type of guy you want to listen to."

The Huskers impressed the 2019 sensation when he was in Lincoln for the spring game.

"It was a nice trip," Williams pointed out. "I saw that crowd and atmosphere for the spring game. It was pretty nice. They like me as a safety. They want me. They want me to keep contacting them because they can't contact me yet."

Louisville recently offered Williams and they'll be in the mix as well.

"That's a nice program," he shared. "They had a nice record a year ago. The Heisman Trophy winner was on their team. I like the linebackers coach there. I haven't visited yet but I plan on it."
