Byers Enjoys Iowa Visit

The's overall #1 recruit Jeff Byers visited Iowa City this weekend. Read what the big boy from Colorado thought about the town, Iowa's dominant 21-2 victory against ranked Arizona State and the Hawkeye fans in this premium update.

Jeff Byers, the nation's No. 1 rated prospect, took his second official visit over the weekend. This one was to Iowa and he came home impressed with the Hawkeyes.

"Iowa was a lot of fun," Byers said. "Everyone there is so down to earth and genuine. That's what stood out more than anything."

Byers, 6-4 and 270 pounds, is from Fort Collins (Col.) Loveland High School. He plays center and defensive tackle for his high school team. Loveland is off to a 4-1 star and they are ranked No. 5 in 4A.

Iowa was his second official visit. He took an official visit to Ohio State (8-29) and says that the trip to Iowa was very similar.

"Hey, the fans at Iowa are just as crazy as at Ohio State. In fact, the two trips were comparable. The Iowa team chemistry is great. Iowa plays so well together and they all get along so well. Their academics are good too but so are all the teams in the Big 10."

Byers has set up his final three visits but he will not disclose to who. Byers is still considering Iowa, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Colorado, Texas and Nebraska.
