Greenway Gets Big Ten Player of the Week Honors

Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway racked up 17 total tackles (11 solo) while helping the Iowa defense hold Arizona State to no offensive points. This was Greenway's second consecutive 17-tackle game and it is his first Big Ten weekly honor.

OFFENSE:

JON BEUTJER, ILLINOIS SR QB Wheaton, ILL / Wheaton-Warrenville

Beutjer earns his first Big Ten Player of the Week award after setting a Memorial Stadium record with 430 passing yards against California. On the day, he was 35 of 57 (.614) -- both career highs -- with three touchdown passes, including a 72-yard scoring strike, which was the longest Illini pass play since the 1994 Liberty Bowl. It was the fifth time that he has thrown three TDs in a game.

CO-DEFENSE:

CHAD GREENWAY, IOWA SO LB Mt. Vernon, SD / Mt. Vernon

ERIC SMITH, MICHIGAN STATE SO S Groveport, OH / Groveport-Madison

Smith recorded 12 total tackles (six solo) along with three tackles for loss (-11 yards), including two sacks (-10) en route to MSU's win at Notre Dame. Smith was a key force in the Spartans' defense which allowed the Irish only 100 yards rushing on the day. This is his first Conference weekly laurel.

SPECIAL TEAMS: BRANDON FIELDS, MICHIGAN STATE R-FR P Toledo, OH / St. John's

Fields collects his second Big Ten weekly honor of the year after averaging 53.8 yards per punt at Notre Dame. His five kicks for 269 yards included a 79-yard boot, the fifth longest in MSU history. He also placed three punts inside the Irish 20-yard line.
