Sedric Johnson: One of the Best Kept Secrets

It's easy to hide in Texas, especially if you are a high school football player. Cornerback Sedric Johnson of Sweeny, Texas has flown under the radar this year, but his offers are beginning to pile up, and the Iowa Hawkeyes are in good standing with this 5-11, 170-pound athlete

Texas is a very large state in which most instances you can find a diamond in the rough. Perhaps nobody fits the bill more this fall than Sweeny, Texas cornerback Sedric Johnson.

"I have offers from Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Syracuse, and Houston," said Johnson. "Kansas just recently offered me one. LSU is also calling and showing a lot of interest right now."

So does Johnson have any early favorites, or has he set any visits?

"Iowa is the school that has caught my eye the most, but I'm still considering all the schools. Iowa has invited me for an official visit, and I know I will visit them and Arkansas. I'm in the process of deciding what other schools I will visit."

Johnson plays quarterback at Sweeny and has the potential to be an electric slot receiver, but he is currently leading the Houston area with five interceptions as well. Has that success helped etch his position in stone?

"All of the schools are recruiting me to play defense. I'm doing real well at cornerback, and I like playing the position."
