Recruiting 101

Josh Clark returns with another popular edition of Recruiting 101. In this article, he talks about the recruitment of Brian Borgoyn, among other issues. Who is the kicker the Hawks have decided to extend an offer to? Just what positions are the Hawks exactly taking a strong look at the JUCO ranks for?

The Hawks have offered a scholarship to Kicker Kyle Schlicher (5'10 175) from Ankeny, IA. Many regret allowing Todd Sievers get away to from Ankeny to Miami(FL), but many reports and sources have indicated that Kyle has more potential. However, Kyle at this time is NOT a punter so don't expect him to be able to come in next fall and take over punting duties.

There have been reports of OL Brian Borgoyn listing Iowa, and then there hasn't. Right now, Brian is still considering a lot of schools, and he'll be cutting his list down soon. One thing he'll be taking a close look at is the performance of the offensive line, and so far Iowa's hasn't been too impressive. However, Iowa is still in strong contention.

In a premium story earlier this week, I reported on the Hawks offer to JUCO WR Tony Madison from Highlands CC in Kansas. Wide Receiver isn't the only position the Hawks are taking a look at the JUCO route for, as CB, QB, DT, and DE are all receiving a strong look. You can expect at least three JUCO's in this class, and there is a strong possibility of more.

The class for next year in the state of Iowa is looking like one of the best in past memories. OL Aaron Brandt is the stand-out so far, but QB Brett Meyer and OL John Tjaden aren't far behind. Also, QB Brody Foster, ATH Milan Moses, and RB/WR Aaron Hawthorne will receive strong looks. Expect more names to pop up on this list next spring, also.
