Iowa-Florida in Outback Bowl on New Years Day

It's official: Iowa will play Florida in the 2004 Outback Bowl in Tampa on New Years Day. Florida lost four games this year to teams ranked in the Top 19 of the latest BCS poll, while Iowa lost three league games on the road to Michigan State (Alamo Bowl), Ohio State (Fiesta Bowl) and Purdue (Capitol One Bowl).

Iowa will play Florida in the Outback Bowl on New Years Day. The game will start at 10am central and will pit a stellar Iowa defense against one-time Iowa recruit Chris Leak.

On the season, Florida lost to Miami (FL), Tennessee, Ole Miss and Florida State. All four of those teams were ranked in Top 19 of the latest BCS poll, and three of them were ranked in the Top 10. With the exception of the Miami game, Florida lost three games at home.

Iowa's losses came at Michigan State, Ohio State and Purdue. Ohio State was ranked 5th in the final BCS poll and Purdue was 14th.

Iowa was 13th in the final BCS poll and Florida was 15th.
