Godfrey Returns from Mizzou: Decision at Hand

The Iowa Hawkeyes tapped Baytown (Lee) High School of Texas last year, landing record setting QB Drew Tate. They are headed back to the same high school this year to see if those recruiting grounds are still fertile territory with them, as they would like to add CB Charles Godfrey to the Hawkeye flock. Godfrey visited Iowa last week and just completed his visit to Missouri on Sunday. He says that a decision will come this week between those two schools. Get the latest in this report.

Charles Godfrey was a strong lean towards the Iowa Hawkeyes after his official visit to Iowa City last weekend. However, now the tide has changed and the Hawkeyes face stiff competition.

"I had a great visit to Missouri," Godfrey said. "I really liked Coach Pinkel as it was my first opportunity to really get to know him."

"They are building a new dorm facility for incoming freshman, and they just have nice facilities overall. I got to watch them practice as well, and they are an improving team."

Godfrey will have an in-home visits with Iowa defensive backs coach Phil Parker on Monday evening and Missouri defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski on Tuesday evening. So is a decision likely to follow?

"Yes, I will have a decision made this week. I just have to decide between the Big Ten and Big Twelve. I felt a little more at home at Iowa, but I've grown up on Big Twelve football, and believe that is the best conference." Godfrey said.

"I'll be talking to (his high school coach)Coach (Dick) Olin, and my brother (Ell Roberson) at some point tomorrow as well. This is a tough decision for me to make."
