The lack of depth in the secondary has been a serious issue for the Hawkeyes this year, and the Hawks are addressing the problem very well. This weekend they'll be playing host to one of the best DB's in the south, Fabian Washington, from Bradenton, FL. Fabian was not able to be reached last evening, but I recieved word that he has already made two official visits, last weekend to Nebraska and two weeks ago to Michigan State. Fabian would definitely be one of the headliners in this class if he was to choose the Hawks.
LB Edmond Miles originally was scheduled to visit Iowa on the December 1st weekend, but he learned that he'll be taking tests the first two weekends of December so he has bumped his visit up to this weekend.
"I'm looking forward this weekend to seeing what Iowa is really about and seeing a good football game," Edmond indicated. "Iowa is right up there at the top of my list. I have two other visits scheduled at this time, USC on January 12th and Arkansas on Janurary 19th."
DE Steve Cassell is a virtual unknown prospect in the recruiting scene, but as we've learned before with this staff, they know how to find talent, especially in Florida. Iowa is Steve Cassell's only offer at this time, but that was the same case in the past with such prospects like Bob Sanders and Matt Roth.
"I'm really looking forward to my visit this weekend as I'm real excited," Steve marveled. "There is a real good chance that I could make a verbal commitment this weeekend as Iowa has been the school on me for a while, but I'd still like to take a few other visits. I've been receiving calls from Florida, Central Florida, and Georgia Southern."
HawkTalkOnline.com broke the name of all three of these prospects to Hawk fans, and you can expect more of this throughout the recruiting season as the Hawkeye coaching staff once again turns their efforts into bringing in another top notch recruiting class.
