Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale could be considered a linebacker factory by many universities around the nation that make an annual stop to the school in the month of May.
Elijah Hodge is the headliner this coming fall, and has already received his first of what will end up being several offers.
"I got a UPS package from Duke that contained my scholarship offer," said Hodge. "LSU called my coach the other day, and then put me on the phone to tell me they would be offering me a scholarship."
So was Elijah excited about the verbal offer from the co-National Champions.
"Oh yeah, that is one of the best offers I can receive. I'm planning on attending their camp this summer, and my high school always attends the team camp at Auburn."
One other school that is on his list are the Iowa Hawkeyes. That is where his brother, Abdul, went from being a 200-pound high school linebacker, like Elijah, into a 235-pound First-Team All Big-Ten linebacker as a sophomore. You can rest assured that Elijah has taken notice of big brother's development.
"Yeah, it's been something to watch him develop, and I'd always love a shot to play alongside him if given the opportunity. Really, I just love their fans and the atmosphere at the games. I attended the Outback Bowl (Iowa's 37-17 win over Florida) and went into the team locker room after the game. The coaches told me they would love to have two Hodge's on the same roster."
So will he be making a trip to Iowa City anytime soon?
"I'll probably wait until after my season is over, and take an official visit."
