Hawks Regain Floyd

The Iowa Hawkeyes had two great accomplishments this past Saturday. They made themselves bowl eligible and recaptured Floyd of Rosedale. In a 42-24 win, Hawk fans have finally seen the improvement in year three that they wanted to see, which is a likely bowl invitation.

The Iowa Hawkeyes, despite key injuries, once again had an easy victory over another Big Ten opponent. The Minnesota Gophers (3-7) came into Kinnick Stadium, defeating the Hawks the past three years, with victory in their mind. However, Iowa quickly shut the door on those thoughts.

Kyle McCann showed why he is one of the most efficent passers in the BigTen, finishing 10 for 11 and 159 yards. Brad Banks also recieved a lot of action and was able to lead the Hawks to some scoring drives.

Once again, Ron Johnson found himself having much success against the Iowa defensive backs, but he is likely the most premier WR Iowa has faced this season. This will be a stepping point in Benny Sapp's career to see how he can improve himself the next two years against the BigTen's premier WR's.

It was a great day, all in all, for the Hawks, and more importantly, the seniors. It was a great crowd (65,491) and the seniors were all embraced with loud cheers as they walked out to their parents on the field.

However, they have don't to worry about any bowl game yet. Now they must concentrate on beating the Iowa State Cyclones next week in Ames.
