One of the nation's top tight end prospects, James Dray has not yet taken the course of visits around to his top schools. However, one school that has taken the time to check out is the local Rutgers Golden Knights.
"Rutgers is a program on the rise, and they are doing well recruiting the state this year," said Dray. "I just sat down with them to see how I'd be involved in the offense, and they said I'd be an every down tight end. I also went over the academics at the school with them. It was a real good visit."
Dray plans to use his official visits after the season in making a decision. Will he narrow his list sooner, though?
"I'll probably narrow my list near the end of my season as recruiting is kind of on the backburner right now. I'm more concentrated on my season."
Dray listed Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech as some programs he is currently interested in. What factors will he use in making his decision?
"First, the school must have good academics as I want my degree to hold some weight. Secondly, the football program has to have a good reputation of getting guys to the next level. Lastly, I would like the opportunity to play early, and be used in the offense."
Dray also had some comments on the Iowa Hawkeyes:
"Iowa is definitely near the top of my list, even though, I'm not close to narrowing my list. I really like the fact they have a couple Jersey guys on their roster, and Coach (Eric) Johnson has been showing me a lot of interest. He told me I'm a priority for them and that I could definitely see some early playing time."
Will distance play a factor at all in his decision with the amount of east coast schools on his list?
"No, distance will not play a factor at all in my decision. I will go anywhere to play if I feel that is the best place for myself."
