There are a surplus of wide receivers in the state of Ohio in 2004, including Richard Quinn, who some have felt has fallen under the radar of gaining some of the mainstream press his counterparts have received. Quinn is an imposing physical presence at the receiver spot, and will make one school happy when he selects them.
So is Quinn ready to make that ever so important decision?
"No, probably not," said Quinn. "I'm pretty sure I want to take a couple official visits, and I will decide either by the mid-point of the season or at the end of the season."
"Those three sort of stand out right now because I visited them, and obviously they have offered me. I still expect that I may receive offers from Michigan State and West Virginia after the season starts, and I'd like to make a visit out to Iowa as I'm hearing some good things about them."
What specifically has he been hearing on the Hawkeyes?
"Well, one of their former wide receivers, CJ Jones, who plays for the Cleveland Browns, works as a volunteer coach at my high school during the off-season. He comes down to help with practice, and he helps me a lot in regards to running routes. He also takes me up to the Browns facilities to work out with him, and he has told me a lot of great things about Iowa. Coach Ken O'Keefe told me CJ is a good guy, and the type of guy that represents Iowa so I know I can trust his word. I have their 800#, and I've spoken to Coach Eric Johnson once before, but I need to give them another call."
His thoughts on the three programs that he has already visited:
Pitt: "I like their coaching staff a lot. They are real cool, laid back, and relaxed. I spoke to Coach (Walt) Harris a lot during their camp, and he is a real good person. He showed me some things at the camp, and I would like playing for him."
UNC: "They have such a beautiful campus, and I also like their coaching staff. Their facilites just me blew me away as their recruiting coach drove us around the campus before our visit, and everything was just awesome, including their medical facility."
Akron: "I checked out their facilites, and I cannot even tell you how much money they spent on them, but it is a lot. Their facilites were up there with North Carliona's. I also have a buddy that plays there."
So I had to ask one more time, is there any chance Quinn could elect to surprise everyone with a commitment in the next two weeks?
"No, that isn't going to happen."
