We introduced Iowa fans to Munir Prince last Fridayafter speaking with his high school coach Pat Mahoney. We also posted his results from the AAU Junior Olympics, which were held in Des Moines over the first week of August.

Since then, we have been able to confirm with Mahoney that the 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa after visiting the campus last week.

"Josh, Munir did verbally commit to Iowa," Mahoney said via email. "He was very impressed with the school, coaches, program and the general feel of the University made him comfortable."

Mahoney had this to say on Prince last Friday: "He has incredible vision and quickness, he very seldom is tackled by the first guy, and he often escapes body shots you'd never imagine him to be able to break because he really keeps his feet moving and has incredible balance. Once hits a seam, you have no chance of catching him."

Prince ran the 200-meters in 22.10 in Des Moines on Saturday and ran a 4.40 electronically time 40-yard dash at a Michigan camp last year.

Prince is Iowa's first known commitment in the Class of 2006. He cannot sign a letter of intent until February of 2006.
