Jake Christensen has Hot Hand in Opener

Iowa commit Jake Christensen got off to a hot start in his first game of the season on Friday, leading #1 Lockport, Illinois, the defending Class 8A state champions, to a 33-14 win against Moline. Christensen played the first half and just one drive of the second half, but he was able to inflict some impressive damage in his one half of play...

Unofficial stats have Christensen completing 16 of 23 passes for 311 yards and four touchdown passes.

He had one rush for one yard and that resulted in a score.

He began the game just 1 of 5 for 21 yards, so he finished by completing 15 of 19 passes for 286 yards. He did not throw an interception.

Lockport led 27-0 at halftime, but they were unable to muster any kind of ground game, finishing the contest with -6 yards rushing, unofficially.

Christensen also handled five punts for a 36 yard average, unofficially.
