Brandon White (6'3 180) was reported as having Southern Miss and West Virginia as his two favorites the last time a reporter spoke to him. However, when I was able to catch up with Brandon on the phone last night, there was no mention of Southern Miss nor West Virginia.
"Right now my Iowa, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Ole' Miss, and Kansas State are the schools on my list," Brandon said. "Iowa and Wisconsin are the only two visits I have taken at this time. Iowa's visit was better than my trip to Wisconsin."
Brandon had a very good trip to Iowa City. Once again, the Florida influence played an important role in the reason why.
"I really enjoyed my visit to Iowa. Jerramy Scott and I really liked our hosts, Benny Sapp and CJ Jones, respectively. I felt a lot more comfortable at Iowa than Wisconsin because there were a lot more Florida players and they were all such a close unit. I believe Iowa stands pretty well with Jerramy, also."
Wide receiver is the number one priority in this class for Iowa, and Brandon White is definitely one of the top high school prospects at WR that the Hawkeyes are recruiting.
"Iowa is definintely my favorite at this time. It is a good opporunity for me to come up and play early. I want to make a decision shortly, at the latest early January. There is only a slight chance that I will take any more visits."
An ongoing theme with Florida prospects seems to be the recruitment done by Coach Bielema representing Iowa. Coach Bielema has already built an impressive track record down in Florida with his recruiting, and it seems to keep getting bigger.
"Coach Bielema seems a lot more honest than other coaches. He lays it all out on the table and tells you flat out what Iowa is all about. He does not try to paint any picture for you. He definitely keeps a high level of interest with the calls and visits. The whole staff was very genuine on my visit."
If Brandon were to chose to attend Iowa, he would have no problem getting in with a 3.1 GPA and 980 on the SAT. It appears Iowa is not only getting talented prospects from Florida, but also good citizens and students.
Hawk fans will have to sit by closely as the Hawks emerge on the national recruiting scene these next few weeks. Gaining Brandon White would definitely ease the worries of WR recruiting. All Hawk fans know that it does not appear Brandon will have a problem finding a QB to throw him the ball here at Iowa.
