Hawkeye Commit Calloway Firmly with the Hawks

Kyle Calloway visited Iowa City back in June, and after just one day in the River City, he knew that was where he wanted to play his college football. So he committed to Iowa the next week. Three games into his senior season at Belleville, Illinois, the Missouri Tigers came calling with a promise of a scholarship.

"Missouri called me and said if I started to look around was interested in them that they would offer me a scholarship," offensive lineman Kyle Calloway said.

"I told them my commitment to Iowa is solid. I actually have my Iowa official visit set up for the weekend of December 17th.

"Everything else has been pretty quiet. Northern Iowa called and said the same thing that Missouri did but everything else has been pretty quiet for the most part."

Calloway, a 6-foot-7, 275-pounder from Belleville (Ill.) East was offered by Iowa at their summer camp and he committed to the Hawkeyes soon after.

Calloway has been playing tight end and defensive end in 2004 but he'll move to the offensive line for Belleville's next game.

"I guess the team we play this weekend has a real good defensive tackle so my coach wants to move me to guard for a game. I don't even know what number I'm going to be wearing this weekend."

Belleville East is off to a 3-1 record so far in 2004.
